What is seen in horror films

What is seen in most horror films I will be considering the images to plan my idea for my trailer and poster, this will also help me with my narrative as I can relate the items used in most horror films, I need to be inspired by horror films to create my own. I will also use this for my evaluation where it shows I have researched and were I gained my ideas and knowledge from.

Classifications

Classifications that I am going to consider are only 15 and 18 because most horror films are classified as this. Horror films in current time are more 15 the reason for this is directors want more viewers to make more money. As my trailer will be much budgeted, I should consider more the 15 classification as it may not be well edited and filmed as other films with big budgets. So I may not have anything to gruesome for the viewers, I will also have to consider the props and location that are available to me.

15- Discrimination cannot be shown or no discriminatory language. Drug taking, may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse. The horror can be a strong threat and menace which is permitted unless it is sadistic or sexualised. The imitable should be easily accessible weapons should be glamorised. Language there can be frequent use of strong language. There can be sexual context without detail; there can also be nudity without detail. There should be no theme prohibited provided the treatment is appropriate for 15. Violence may be strong but should not dwell on pain and injury.

18- Adults should be free to use their own entertainment, with some exceptions. It is in breach of criminal law or has been created through the commission of a criminal offence. Material or treatment appears to the BBFC to risk harm to individuals or through behaviour to society, portrayal of the violent or dangerous acts or illegal use which may cause harm to public health or moral panic.

Ideas

These are some images that I have taken my self, not using a professional camera.

Late at night I was searching for locations that I could use in my trailer and also my poster for my work. the locations I picked are ideas from current horror movies such as a dark alley way at night always means danger and creates suspense in real life and in movies which is a great location to film. I have two shots of these a dark alley and and a clear bright one they were both shot at night, I believe the most effective is the bright one with lights as you can see it is much more clear however with a professional camera that has night vision the dark alley may look better, but with a I phone it looks unclear

I also chose a typical isolated place which is seen in many films such as the Blair witch project and Hollowen this is a good scene because I can relate it to other movies in my evaluation. I also included the street lamp which I personally think gives the image a better affect, everything is dark except the light.

Is anything new or original?

It is argued that horror films in current times are either re makes or similar to old horror movies, there is no originality in new horror films

Steave Neal 1980 " genres are instances of repetition and difference "

Tzvetan Todrov argued that a new genre is always the transformation of one or several old genres

Mulvey

" Men act and women appear. Men look at women, women  watch themselves being looked at"

women are seen in horror movies as being passive, the men act such as fight the villain, while the women stand and look pretty

Some examples of this in horror movies

            Bride of Chucky
